D66 pleads for Open House at Embassies and International Organizations
donderdag 1 januari 2009
In 2008 the municipal council voted in favour of a motion of D66, in which it asked the Gemeente to positively look at any request it receives to facilitate an open house at embassies and/or other international organisations in The Hague.
The Open House will be organised for the second time around on 20 September 2009.
The Hague is the seat of many embassies and international organisations, which adds to the style and glamour of The Hague but sometimes also causes nuisances for the citizens of The Hague (i.e. the situation around the American Embassy). Mutual understanding is a ground rule for a good community. D66 believes an insight into the way these organisations work, as well as a physical peek behind the door, can add to this understanding. Moreover, D66 feels that an open dag where (expat)workers from the embassies/int. organisations meet with the 'ordinary' citizens of The Hague will increase the international and social cohesion in the city.
